Indigo Studies
The series focuses on the physical properties of indigo ink and its interaction with space. Each composition relies on the organic flow of the pigment to define form, from the structural veins of a leaf to the heavy mass of a bear, maintaining a direct connection between the gesture and the paper.
The work explores the contrast between fluid natural shapes and sharp, deliberate details. By placing subjects like the fishbowl portrait or the crane within a monochromatic framework, the collection strips away visual noise to highlight the raw texture and the tension found in the ink's movement.
These pieces utilize negative space as a functional element rather than a void. The balance between the deep blue stains and the untouched surface emphasizes a minimalist approach to the floating world, where the impact of the work is defined by the honesty of the single mark.
