The Year of the Fire Horse
"Cheval de Feu" (Fire Horse) is a vibrant personal artwork by Astraelux, created to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Inspired by the traditional zodiac, the piece honors the Year of the Fire Horse, a sign known for its powerful energy, passion, and fiercely independent spirit.
The animation unfolds as a rapid aesthetic journey, where the horse's gallop morphs through a stunning variety of graphic universes. With every beat, the creature transforms: shifting from a rainbow-colored pixel art style to traditional floral patterns, a retro Tetris-inspired grid, a sparkling cosmic embroidery, and a minimalist 3D render. It even transitions into physical textures, appearing as a stitched patch on a clothing pocket and a heavily textured oil painting.
By blending the timeless fluidity of the galloping motion with diverse digital and artisanal mediums, including street art stencils, shadow silhouettes, and lush jungle illustrations, the artwork brilliantly redefines the concept of "fire."
