THE GENTLE DECEPTION OF NOSTALGIA
Impossible Memories presents a series of faux vintage advertisements, acting as vestiges of a past that never truly existed. These works borrow the visual language of early to mid 20th century commercial art, featuring bold typography, smiling faces, and idealised products promising happiness and comfort. Yet a slight shift hides behind this familiar aesthetic, serving as a reminder that memory is fragile, constructed, and often deceptive.
Images oscillate between nostalgia and strangeness. They invite the viewer to question the visuals shaping our collective imagination, asking which memories are real and which are invented. This series explores what happens to desire when it is manufactured, and to nostalgia when it becomes a consumer product.
By producing advertisements that could have existed, Impossible Memories becomes a visual archaeology of the unreal. It stands as a celebration of beauty, irony, and the strange poetry found within a counterfeit past.
